Most of us really don't like bees. Heck, some of us can't stand them. And a handful of us are terrified by them, but bees are amazing living things that do wonderful things for us and the environment on a daily basis.
One of the greatest things bees can do is create bee pollen. Did you know that bee pollen is considered by many leading authorities and scientists and nutritionists to be nature's most perfect food? That is quite a statement.
It's considered a perfect food because it has all the essential components of life. What does that mean exactly? Well, it's not only loaded with vitamins, it also contains amino acids, almost all minerals known to man, trace elements and certain enzymes. I mean, that is just incredible that this little thing that flies around creates this stuff without even working up a sweat. Do bees even sweat? That's another article for another day.
And as if all of that isn't enough, bee pollen is one of the absolute best sources of anti-oxidants.
With all of these positive things going for it, is it any wonder that bee pollen is one of the oldest "health foods" known to man? Go ahead, look in the bible and the Koran, look in ancient text from Egypt and China and you'll find reference to this perfect food.
It is said that bee pollen will not only keep you healthy, but it has the power to heal what ails you.
The antibacterial qualities are said to be able to cure diseases, boost your immune system and help repair damaged cells.
So, this is all really exciting and wonderful news. But just what exactly is bee pollen anyway?
Well, pollen is the stuff that is created by the male part of a flowering plant, the stuff that pollinates the female part. As bees travel from flower to flower, they not only help pollinate these plants, but they also carry some of this pollen back to their hive, where it can be collected by the beekeeper.
So, is this really a wonder food or just hype to sell the latest-greatest organic potion? Well, if it was good enough for the Egyptians, maybe there's just something to it after all.
